I learned this the hard way when I went 100% and tried to maintain Crossfit intensity training. Big Fail. I was having such severe muscle cramps that I was down on the floor in excruciating, mind-numbing pain for up to 10 minutes. I tried everything to get this to stop. I had experienced some cramping here and there when I was more like 85% Paleo, but when I went 100%, within months I had 3 seriously intense episodes of cramps within 10 days. My body was depleted and after each episode I fought to figure out how to stop it.
I tried more hydration
I tried increasing electrolytes
More stretching, ice, compression, massage
But what finally worked was adding more Carbs into my diet. More HGI carbs, such as rice. And also fresh juicing of vegetables and fruits... all of which are not "Paleo."
I still stay away from "inflammatory foods" and these changes have benefited my energy level, my health and Crossfit intensity with no apparent issues with the MS.
I will add that I have become a big fan of the daily consumption of Kale and I do now consistently drink pre and post workout drinks.
